Directions between Faculty of Human Kinetics at University of Lisbon and the Hotels in Cascais

By taxi
You can easily ask for a taxi at the hotel reception or at the faculty entrance. The journey should take approximately 30 minutes and should cost approximately 30 Euros.

By car
You can either take the Marginal or the highway. The journey via the marginal, which is a road along the seaside, takes approximately 30 min (for directions). Via the highway, the journey takes you approximately 23 min, and the tolls cost 1.35 Euros.

By public transportation
The easiest way to oscillate between the hotels and the Faculty is using the train. It takes between 30 to 40 min and will offer you an amazing view on the sea as it runs along the coastal side. You can choose to take the train to the station called Cruz Quebrada, and walk up to the Faculty (option 1), or you can get out in the next station (Algés) and take the bus that leaves you right at the Faculty entrance (option 2).

Option 1: From Cascais train station you should get the train that goes to Oeiras. Then, at Oeiras station change to the train in line 3, and get out at station Cruz Quebrada.
Note: Between 10 am and 5 pm you should rather take the train to Cais do Sodré. During this period, there will be no trains to Oeiras. Instead they will go all the way to Cais do Sodré, stoping at every station (including Cruz Quebrada).

From Cruz Quebrada, walking distance is approximately 10 min.

To return to the hotel, take the train to Oeiras station. Then, change to line 1 to Cascais.
Note: Again, between 10 am and 5 pm there will be no trains to Oeiras. Instead they will go all the way to Cascais, stopping at every station. So don’t wait for one saying Oeiras, and instead get on the train to Cascais.

Option 2: From Cascais train station, take the train to Cais do Sodré, and get off the train at Algés station. From there take the bus number 776. This bus will stop (i.e turn around) exactly the Faculty’s entrance, and takes approximately 15 min.
To return to the hotel, get the bus 776 in front of the Faculty to Algés train station. From there, take the train to Cascais.
Please download the 776 bus timetables here:

The individual ticket (one way) costs 1.85 Euros for the train and 1.40 Euros for the bus. Don’t forget to always validate your ticket, before getting on the train, or inside the bus.

Note: novel will provide 2 Day Tickets („tourist travelcard“) for the train between the Faculty of Human Kinetics at University of Lisbon and Cascais (for the two Scientific Days i.e. 28.7. and 30.7.).
