The University of Lisbon (ULisboa) is the largest and most prestigious university in Portugal and one of the leading European universities. Heir to a university tradition of over seven centuries ULisboa acquires its current configuration in July 2013, following the merger of the former Universidade Técnica de Lisboa and Universidade de Lisboa. ULisboa brings together the various areas of knowledge, having a privileged position to monitor the contemporary evolution of science, technology, art studies and humanities. See www.ulisboa.pt

Lisbon is the capital of Portugal and an exciting city. The cityscape of Lisbon essentially consists of constructions from the 18th century. The center of Lisbon is the Baixa. The old town is characterized by its tiled facades and medieval, narrow streets. The Torre de Belém is one of the most famous landmarks in Lisbon. In 1983, the Unesco nominated the Torre de Belém and the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (Jerónimos Monastery) as World Heritage Site. This fact also maintains the “art in science” aspect of the conference.

The welcome reception, banquet and networking day will take place in the beautiful region of Cascais and the nearby Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. Cascais can be reached from Lisbon within 30 min. The picturesque historic village Cascais has a lot to offer: culture, nature, cuisine and numerous beaches where you can just relax or do some sport.

Please make sure to register soon under www.regonline.com/esm2016!

I look forward to welcoming many of you at ESM 2016 in Lisbon next July!

Best regards,

Prof. António Prieto Veloso, PhD, Local Host ESM 2016
President, Sports and Health Department of the Faculty of Human Kinetics,
